Questions from Kira

I had a couple of things to ask as I start planning for my move. I was wondering if you could send me a written copy of my contract? I understand that all verbal offers and acceptances made at the fair are binding, but I'd like a copy of the contract so that I can review my role and responsibilities.

I was wondering about the flight to Milan in August. Do I plan that or does the school take care of booking the flight? Also, would it be possible to send any images of the apartment that I'll be living it, or images of a similar apartment? I'm just curious to see where I'll be living.

  1. Hi Kira,

I will find out about the flight for you. I am pretty sure our business office books it for you and sends you the itinerary. As for apartment pictures, once we know what apartment you will be living in, we will try to give you as much info as possible including pictures. We will hopefully know apartment situations in May.

As for contract, I think Day should be emailing you all with that information.

  2. So sorry, Kira! I should have given you a copy of the contract signed by a member of the Board of Directors of BES. It must still be in my Queen's folder. I will scan it and send it off to you. Will that do?

  3. I will be speaking to our Business Office about your flights this week before we break for Settimana Bianca. If at all possible, I would like for you all to be on the same flight. That would make things more fun for you and easier for us to manage pick-up.

I will also start sending you information about how to go about applying for a student visa. Remember that the first step is to have a passport that is valid for a minimum of two years. If you don't have that, start working on getting one right away.

  4. We will be sorting out the apartments in the next couple of weeks, probably when we return from the White Week. I plan to get numerous photos of the different apartments so you can have an idea of what to expect. I will also get some pictures of the school so you can see what it looks like, too.

  6. Hi Day and Liz,
A scanned copy of the contract is fine. Would you like me to sign it, scan it and send it back?
As I mentioned in Kingston, my cousin is getting married on August 22nd. So in terms of flying I'm able to take a flight late on the 23rd or anytime on the 24th.
I'm working on renewing my Canadian passport and getting an Italian passport. In case the Italian passport doesn't work out in time, I'll still apply for the student visa once you send more info.
Looking forward to seeing the apartments.
    Have a nice White Week!

  7. Hi,
I was wondering if Italian citizenship and an EU passport was enough or do I still need a work visa? I've started the process for my Italian citizenship. Enjoy your Settimana Bianca!

  8. If you have an EU passport you do not have to apply for a student or work visa. You have the legal right to work in any EU country and the process of becoming "legal" is quick and easy. However, I suspect that the process of obtaining an Italian (or EU) passport may be as complex or even more so than obtaining a student visa to join BES. If, by chance, you are far into the process of obtaining an EU passport, then you may be able to forgo applying for a student visa, but you will need one of the other to be able to live and work in Italy.

  9. I sent a scanned copy of the Letter of Intent to Kira today. Sorry, Kira. I think everyone else should have one already. I have one extra in my recruiting folder, but that was for the IT candidate who got away. Not to worry, have been interviewing IT candidates this week. If you know any IT people who would like a place in the Italian sun, please direct them to get in touch with me right away.

  10. Thanks for the information. I've already started the process of obtaining an Italian (EU) passport so, I'll continue this route.

Will we be able to move into our apartments at the end of August? I was wondering what the rental agreement states. Can we move in earlier if we wish to?
